Built by a teacher,
for your child.
HMT Classes isn’t a franchise. It’s one teacher’s life work — three decades of watching kids light up when learning finally clicks.
Meet Gagandeep Shergill
Gagandeep Shergill is an OCT-certified teacher with over 30 years of experience teaching across Catholic school boards in multiple countries. She holds a Bachelor of Education, a Master’s degree, and has completed additional educational courses through the University of Toronto and Brock University.
Through three decades in the classroom, Gagandeep noticed a fundamental problem: school curricula are designed for the teacher, not the child. The lesson plans, the pacing, the materials — they’re built to be delivered efficiently to a room of 30 students, not to match how any one child actually learns.
In Canada, most schools don’t even have regulated textbooks. Teachers are given broad curriculum expectations and left to figure out the rest. This means your child’s learning experience depends entirely on which teacher they get — and whether that teacher has the time and resources to notice when something isn’t landing.
Here’s how we think about it: Most schools hand every student the same curriculum, like buying a shirt off the rack. It might look fine from a distance, but it was never made for you — too tight here, too loose there. At HMT Classes, we tailor the curriculum to fit your child. It’s the difference between a store-bought shirt and a high-end, bespoke piece fitted specifically to them. The material is the same. The fit is everything.
That’s why Gagandeep founded HMT Classes. Every student begins with a diagnostic assessment that reveals not just what they know, but how they learn. From there, we build a personalized plan aligned with the Ontario curriculum — one that works with your child’s strengths instead of fighting against them.
The result is learning that feels natural, progress that’s visible within weeks, and a child who actually wants to sit down and study. That’s not a marketing claim. It’s what happens when you stop teaching to the room and start teaching to the kid.
What we believe
Every child deserves individual attention
Small groups and personalized plans — not a room of 30 students sharing one teacher's focus.
The curriculum should serve the student
We align every lesson to Ontario standards, but we shape delivery around how your child actually learns.
Parents should always know where things stand
Real-time progress tracking through the HMT Classes app. No guessing, no report-card surprises.
Confidence matters as much as grades
When a child feels capable, everything changes. We build skills and self-belief together.
